The FA rightly got a bit of criticism over the way they treated the players wives esp after the final, the way they tried to interfere with Alfs plans as they could with previous managers and how there was no continuity using the experince of 66.
The FA are solely responsible for England's failure since.

Only place I could find it, and youtube have done that thing they do to copyright films of washing out the colour. It's a shame as it should be in really vibrant technicolour, it's where the colour footage for Alf's Boys was taken from.

I really enjoyed it. Lot's of stories and behind the scenes stuff I hadn't heard before.
Most have probably seen it already, but if you haven't, and can find "Goal!" the feature length FIFA documentary of the '66 WC, it's well worth a watch. They showed a beautiful print of it on the BBC last time the WC was on.
